The Drawer Of Wrong Tubes Was Never Her Fault

Everybody past a certain age has this drawer. Tubes bought with intent, worn twice, kept anyway, because throwing them out would mean admitting the money is gone.

Open the drawer

Most people can name where each one came from. The one matched under a department store light. The one a daughter swore by. The one that looked right in the tube and wrong in the car mirror.

Every one was chosen carefully. Every one was wrong.

After the fourth failure, a sensible person wonders whether the problem is her.

It isn't. The drawer is not a record of bad taste. It is a record of a task nobody can pass.

Every one of these was the right shade in the shop.

What the wall actually asks of you

Match a pigment you cannot see clearly against a lip that has quietly changed color over twenty years, under retail lighting, from a wall of near identical options.

The industry's answer to failure is always the same. You picked wrong. Try another one.

That is the only answer it can give, because the next tube is the product. A wall of choices cannot conclude that choosing was the problem.

So the drawer fills, and eventually she does the arithmetic and stops.

She is not rare, and not quiet about it

Over twenty years. Nobody asked her for that detail.

Her sentence appears twenty one times in the strict wording and sixty three in looser wording, out of the 7,506 reviews carrying text, counted by hand on 23.09.2026.

Twenty one women told a lipstick company, in a review of a lipstick, that they had given up on lipstick.

A shade that worked once, bought again, and wrong the second time.

The three things that come before quitting

Nobody walks away first. The file shows the same three attempts.

Matte. One 73 year old reviewer describes going over to matte, then describes matte as not feeling like lipstick, really. Traded, not solved. (Trustpilot, 19.09.2026.)

Liner. Draw the edge, fill it in. A reviewer writes that she uses a lip liner to enlarge her lips, and it announces itself the moment it shifts. (Trustpilot, 06.07.2026.)

Stopping. The one that never let anybody down, and the one the industry cannot answer.

Stopping is the rational move, and the only one that costs nothing to maintain.

One tube, and the decision removed

There is no color in the bullet. CI 45410 is a pH reactive pigment, near colorless in the tube, that develops when it meets the moisture and pH of a lip.

It is carried in a balm base of squalane, jojoba seed oil and vitamin E.

So there is no shade to select. Not a narrower range, not a smarter matching system. Nothing at all, because the tube holds no color to get wrong.

Read that against the drawer. Every tube in there was a decision she lost. This one does not ask for one.

What that costs, said out loud

It is the same soft pink on almost everyone. That is not the fine print, it is the offer.

Two outside review sites got there first, both filing it as the product's weakness.

DeRealest Reviews, 24.04.2026: "most users report that the color outcome is consistently a soft pink tint, regardless of skin tone."

The Maker Depot, 28.05.2026: "a majority of people get an identical pink shade regardless of their shade of lip."

And a customer, stating it as a complaint and proving it at the same time:

Four women, one shade, one review. She wanted her own color and did not get one.

If that is what you want too, close this page.

But if you are the woman with the drawer, read her sentence again. She ran the experiment nobody runs: four wearers, and it did not depend on who wore it.

8,249 customer reviews, averaging 4.2 out of 5. The per star distribution is not published by the store, so it is not shown here.

The numbers, including the ones that do not flatter

Counted 23.09.2026 from the store's public review widget, all 8,249 reviews plus 301 on Trustpilot. Each carries its denominator.

- 8,249 reviews, recomputed average 4.224 - Spread: 4,540 five star, 2,033 four, 1,103 three, 127 two, 446 one star - 51 of 7,506 use a phrase meaning everybody gets the same color. 28 of 7,506 name a second wearer who got the identical shade - 1,075 of 7,506, 14.3 percent, raise fading or reapplying

An advertisement printing its own 446 one star reviews is unusual. A count with the bad half removed is not a count.

Two things before this page asks you for anything

It fades and it has to be put back on. 1,075 reviews out of 7,506 say so, at every star level including five. If reapplying during the day is not something you are willing to do, stop here.

On very thin lips, color alone can make the thinness more visible rather than less. A reviewer who liked it said so plainly:

Five stars, and it still was not for her. Color goes where color goes. It does not change shape.

One tube. Nothing to match. It fades and needs putting back on.

The offer, and why it is shaped this way

Buy one get one is the standing deal, so two tubes go into the cart, not one.

That discount is not kindness. 442 reviews out of 7,506 describe passing a tube to a daughter, a sister or a friend. The second tube is how this company gets found.

It also hands you the test. Give the second one away, put it on together, and you will both end up with the same soft pink.

The guarantee is 90 days from arrival, lightly used accepted, with two real terms: you pay the return shipping, and support has to approve a return first.

Delivery takes 6 to 12 business days, longer than the two day habit most American shoppers assume, and it does not ship from inside the United States. Order against that window, not against next weekend.

Close the drawer

Every tube in it was a decision she was asked to make and could not win.

The women in that file worked that out years ago and stopped buying. Twenty one said so in writing, in a review of the first thing that did not ask them to choose again.

One tube. The same soft pink almost everybody gets. It fades and it needs putting back on.

That is either the version she would have stayed for, or it is not. Two minutes to find out.
